Stone

How thick will my countertop be and will it have a laminated edge.
Our standard stone and quartz edges are 3cm (1 ¼ inch). This provides an edge that has no seamed edge lamination. Upgraded edges can be laminated to 4cm (1 ½ inch) or even 6cm (2 ½ inch) thickness.

Can I put hot pots or appliances on my stone or quartz?
Typically, stone and quartz are very heat resistant but “how hot is hot”  ? A pot with liquid or a hot dish out of the microwave is typically not a problem but at 400 + degree pan or pot from the oven can cause damage to the sealer on stone or to the polyester in quartz products. We recommend the use of a hot pad.

Will my granite or quartz chip?
Under normal use it is not likely that you will experience a chip. The edges are more susceptible to chipping so if struck with enough force a chip can occur. Such occurrences are not covered by our installed warranty but can usually be repaired to minimize the damage.

Will my quartz countertop be seamless like solid surface?
Quartz is manufactured and installed just like natural stone so where seams are required they will be visible unlike solid surface. We do our best to minimize the number of seams but when necessary our seams are the best in the industry.

Can I have an integral sink with my quartz countertop
There are no integral sink options for quartz countertops. We recommend a high quality stainless steel sink.

Will quartz products vary in color?
Variation in the natural stone (quartz) color, pattern, size, shape and shade, are inherent and unique characteristics to be expected with quartz products.

Solid Surface

How thick will my Corian (or other solid surface) countertop be?
The material itself is 1/2 inch thick but the edge is miter folded to 1 1/2 inch thick.

Can I put hot things on Corian (or other solid surface)?
All acrylic solid surfaces are susceptible to damage from high heat. Hot frying pans, pots from the oven and the like can scorch or discolor the surface. To be safe use  trivets or a hot pad when setting hot pots or objects on your countertop.

Why do you need to template instead of measuring?
A template is a full size pattern of what your new countertops will look like. This insures a perfect fit. During this process or templator will confirm all the details of your job and answer any questions you may have before your countertops are fabricated.

What do I need prepared for template?
Please have your countertops cleared prior to the templator’s arrival and have your new sink, faucet, and any other applicable appliances on site. You or your decision maker must be present at time of the template, which typically takes approximately 2 hours.

How long will our installation take?
Installation times vary depending on the size and layout of your kitchen or bath and how level the cabinets are. Our average for solid surface is 3-4 hours and stone or quartz is 4-5 hours not including tear out.

Will the installation make a mess?
Typically yes. While we use extreme care there is dust and loud tools necessary to complete the job. We have dust collection but the process is never 100% dust free. You may want to cover furniture pieces and such to protect during the process. We will leave the jobsite in “broom swept” condition but will require the home owners finishing touch. Typically adhesives and thinners are used and have an unpleasant odor but are not a health hazard with a little ventilation.
